On the car the screen wiper with an electric drive on two brushes is established. The electric motor of a screen wiper with a reducer and system приводных levers settles down in motor branch.

The screen wiper consists of the electric motor with a reducer, the bases, lever system, brushes, a bimetallic safety lock and the trailer switch.

The worm of a reducer is executed as the uniform block with electric motor shaft. In gearing with a worm there is a worm wheel with which axis the lever system of a drive and brushes is connected.

Management of a screen wiper and windscreen washer is carried out by the switch located on a steering column.

After deenergizing of the switch the electric motor is not switched off at once also brushes continue to move on glass until will reach the bottom position. During this moment the trailer switch will switch a chain and the electric motor will stop.

Maintenance service

Periodically to grease шарнирные connections of draughts of a screen wiper. Greasing should be made engine oil on 5 drops in each point of connection.

For reception of good clearing of a windscreen it is necessary to watch constantly a condition of a surface of glass, without supposing on it the oil stains, disturbing to moisture removal. The rubber tape of brushes is necessary for protecting from oil and gasoline influence.

In order to avoid windscreen damage it is necessary to remember:

- At presence on glass of a dry dust and a dirt it is impossible to include a screen wiper;

- If it is necessary to remove screen wiper brushes, it is recommended to put on slices of a rubber tube the ends of levers.

The rubber tape of a brush should be elastic, rectilinear and not have defects on all length adjoining to glass of an edge. Under these conditions the brush should wipe plentifully moistened glass no more, than for five double courses on small speed. If necessary installation of brushes is made as follows:

- To remove levers of brushes from axes;

- To include a screen wiper and in 1—2 minutes of work to switch off;

- To establish levers with brushes. Brushes should settle down along the bottom plastic facing of glass, but not to concern it. In such position levers to fix;

- To include a screen wiper. At brush work facings should not concern. If brushes hit about facing or after deenergizing stop too highly it is necessary to change installation of levers to axes a little.

At screen wiper failure it is necessary to define that is faulty — a screen wiper or the switch. For this purpose it is necessary to disconnect штекерную колодку from the switch (it is under the panel of devices) and to connect штекерные tips колодки (which remained on a plait of the wires going to a screen wiper), as is shown in pиc. 9.45, And for small speed and fig. 9.45, In for a great speed.

If the screen wiper starts to work, it specifies in malfunction of the switch and if is not present, the screen wiper is faulty.

For check of working capacity of the screen wiper which has been removed from the car, it is necessary штекерную колодку to connect a screen wiper under the scheme shown on pис. 9.46 (the lamp 2 will blink). If the screen wiper works on small and big speeds, and in a faltering mode does not work, to check up serviceability of the relay of faltering work.

The screen wiper relay

For creation of faltering work of a screen wiper the electronic relay of a screen wiper 524.3747 is used.

At screen wiper inclusion in a faltering operating mode it should do 7—19 cycles in a minute.

Serviceability of the relay can be checked up only at work with a screen wiper. The faulty relay is subject to replacement.
